I just saw the best film of the summer, STAR TREK. A film with non-stop action and a great plot premired two weeks ago. I saw this film in IMAX and I think it what one of the best films I’ve seen in a while. Now it’s been two weeks since I’ve seen the film that’s why I’ve waited to review it, I didn’t want to write all hype, but the film is terrific. The film stars a lot of newcomers and some bit actors that transcend the film to greatness, the effects are incredible and you are guaranteed to get into the film even if you aren’t a STAR TREK fan! EXCELLENT MOVIE!

THE MECHANIC – Charles Bronson and Jan Michael Vincent star in this classic hired hit man thriller. This 1972 film is not about the action or the special effects is is about the plot and the pacing of a professional killer. Charles Bronson plays a hired gun that takes Jan Michael Vincent as his apprentice and the story involves the drama and dynamics between the two of them. This film is full of psychological character study and surprising plot twists and of course this film is going to be remade. I think I heard Jason Statham may play the Bronson character. Anyway, check out the original it’s a great way to take some time on a Sunday afternoon.

Hollywood has lost all credibillity, every film is a remake at this point. Star Trek is the only acception this summer becuase the film is more of a prequel/sequel. I heard that they are remaking 1993’s Sylvester Stallone hit CLIFFHANGER and the 1985 cult hit FRIGHT NIGHT. Enough is enough, I’m furious at Tony Scott for defending his TAKING OF PELHAM 1 2 3 remake in last months MAXIM magazine, he said in the magazine that his film “the only thing that is the same is that there is a subway highjacking and it takes place in New York.” OKAY, then at that point, if you’re so sure of yourself and guaranteed your film will be a hit, then why are you calling it TAKING OF PELHAM 1 2 3! You have no courage and the film is thirty years old, don’t crap on the original because you can’t make original film at this point if your life depended on it.

CLOWNHOUSE
Here’s a hidden little movie from 1988 called CLOWNHOUSE. The film is about, three mental patients that escape from an institution. The killers sneak into and find refuge in a carnival. They steal some clown suits and terrorize a small town. Their main targets are house with three boys residing there. Sam Rockwell plays the oldest boy and he’s the star of the whole movie. What makes this an unforgettable movie is how the clowns dance and movie and make this film an eerie masterpiece. This director is an excellent horror director, Victor Salva. Salva has also helmed both JEEPERS CREEPERS films as well. The only downfall to this director is the fact that he’s actually a child molester. This comes into play when you see his films and realize that he might of shot a scene for sexual gratification rather than art. For example there is an unnecessary scene in CLOWNHOUSE where all three boys are in their underwear. Despite the questionable psyche of the director the film still stands up as a great horror flick!

Well it’s here. Rob Zombie finished his opus of crap. Here is the trailer for the sequel to Rob Zombie’s Halloween http://weareatomik.com/?p=1389
Again, I’m not going to see it, it looks as if everybody who was murdered in the first film is back for revenge and it looks like it takes place in a hospital(like the orginal sequel). This summer prepared to be grossed out and pissed off.
