RIP a funny lady. Bea Arthur passed away on Saturday, and the world is less funny. MAUDE was a great show in the seventies, her bit part in HISTORY OF THE WORLD when she talks to Mel Brooks in the begining is hilarious.
But the Golden Girls is where she was the captain of the ship. That show was twenty years ago strong but when you put in on, it’s still funny and it holds up as one of the funniest sitcom ever. Awesome show, great actress, sadly she passed from an undisclosed cancer.

The charcter of Nancy is in the Elm Street remake. The screenwriters decided to stick to a few things from the original film. The actress Rooney Mara from the film DARE and a guest spot on ER is considered for the lead in the film. This isn’t confirmed it’s still in the works. Jackie Halle Early is still a lock as Freddy Krueger and Kyle Gallner and Thomas Dekker as supporting parts.
This film might have some potential.

My idea for this blog is simple, stealing. What happened to the WOLVERINE film is horrible. If people keep bootlegging these films and posting them on the internet for free. Guess what, no more films. Normal people make these movies and they need decent salaries and health insurance. I’m not even talking about the Tom Cruises of the world, I’m talking Key Grip number twelve. Also, why would anybody want to see a film that’s a workprint is beyond me. A workprint involves unfinished special effects, wrong takes, bad sound, and people have the stones to turn around and say that the film is bad or not great. It’s not good because it’s a first draft. Seeing a movie that aws recorded on a cell phone in the back row of a movie theater is not the best quality that I want to pop popcorn too. What I’m trying to say is I enjoy the movies and I want to keep watching movies so please just say NO to bootlegging.

RIPPLE EFFECT – I saw a film written, directed, produced and acted by Philippe Caland(BOXING HELENA). The film stars Forrest Whittaker (I guess before his Oscar), Virgina Madsen and Minnie Driver in probably the most boring film of 2007. The film was only eighty-two minutes so that’s the saving grace. It’s about an immigrant who runs over Whittaker (a college professor) and paralyzes him to a wheel chair, he comes back after fifteen years to get atonement. What this film suffers is in not from lack of talent, but lack of enthusiasm and somebody with film making ability. In some scenes it sounded like the only microphone available was on the actual camera, the plot is boring and you can tell the actors were not into the film except Whittaker because he’s a constant professional. Minnie Driver’s American accent kept slipping and she just didn’t want to be there. But the funny think is the main four stars actually produced the movie, I guess Caland, who is the star is very good friends with each one of them. Caland is the biggest bore on screen I think I’ve ever seen and that’s not because he’s from another country that’s because he can’t act. Avoid this film.

I’m not happy about this because I feel the orginal NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET is a great classic, Robert Englund was chilling as the title charcter(Freddy Krueger), but in the age of remakes there was no question that this was going to happen. However this is some COOL news that I think is interesting, my buddy from the WATCHMEN Jackie Earle Haley(Rorshach) is LOCKED to play Freddy Krueger. I think this is great news, because the guy has turned out to be a great actor. This casting news might have me open my wallet and pay for a movie ticket. The remake is slated to film and premeire in 2010.

I can’t believe a part four of any franchise would dominate a box office. FAST AND FURIOUS(Not to be confused with THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS), the car racing movie was tops at the box office and the only reason was that Mister Vin Diseal, Paul Walker, Michelle Rodriguez and Jordana Brewster, the original cast, is in this installment. Supposedly at the end of the third film TOKYO DRIFT, Vin Diseal had a cameo and that sparked so much intrest that they approached the original cast of the 2001 hit. I haven’t seen the film but the first one was basic eye candy with cars, I can’t imagine what this one could be about. Anyway, we got an early box-office winner. Wow!

Discovered something hilarious the other day. The AQUA TEEN HUNGER FORCE available on Adult Swim (A cartoon network subsidiary), the show from the outside looks like somebody’s deranged drug tirade but its one of the funniest shows I’ve ever seen. The show is about three fast food products and a neighbor who is an arrogant jerk.
The three of them live in a house and it is the dialogue between the four of them that makes the show a classic. Master Shake is fast food shake with a straw that is insane and just wants what he wants. Frylock is a pod of French fries who is a master scientist, Meatwad who is exactly what you think he is a wad of meat, and the neighbor Carl who is always pissed off.
Give this show a chance I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

Well, I’m sorry I haven’t written more frequently. Things in my personal life has dominated my writing ability. But I’m going to be more frequent this month.
APRIL’S FOOLS DAY(1986)
A great 1980’s horror/mystery flick made by the Paramount family in the height of the FRIDAY THE 13TH craze. College students hang out on an island but get picked off one by one by unseen murderer. This movie came out of nowhere at the time and was a real crowd pleaser. Especially for the ending, the movie is hysterical. Amy Steel from FRIDAY THE 13 part two and Thomas Wilson(BACK TO THE FUTURE) have parts in it. I don’t want to ruin this movie by giving spoilers, just pop it in your DVD player and enjoy. This is a fun movie where I think anybody who is not a horror movie fan would enjoy the film especially the ending.
