THE NUMBER ONE MOST ROMANTIC FLICK FOR VALENTINES DAY

Published by carl8447 at 4:10 am under Uncategorized Edit This

THE FLY MAJOR SPOILERS IN THIS REVIEW Yes, this is my pick for the number one Valentines Day film of all time.Beyond being an exceptional remake, a great horror flick, this is a penultimate tragedy for two star-crossed lovers that never really get to flourish their love affair for each other. David Croenberg 23 years ago made one of the best horror remakes ever, THE FLY. The story is about Jeff Goldblum, who plays scientist Seth Brundle, experimenting with a matter transporter mistakenly transports himself with a housefly inside his apparatus. The result of course is the fusing of his human DNA and that of the fly’s DNA. The only person that can help him is that of his girlfriend played by Geena Davis and her ex-boyfriend John Getz. What makes this film so tragic is that you see the romance develop between the two characters and the care and respect each one has for each other, even up until the end where Goldblum’s transformation is complete, Geena Davis can’t bring herself to hurt him. When the film is over and Howard Shore’s haunting melody cues up, anybody who is human can’t help but to feel a bit bad. My confession is that I usually weep at that part, I feel so bad for the two of them. This is an AWESOME movie and I think it’s appropriate for Valentines Day too. If you check out IMDB, it lists it as Science Fiction/Horror/Romance.  According to IMDB as well, in praise of Howard Shore’s awesome score:” An Opera based on this movie is currently being produced for the stage in 2008. David Cronenberg is directing, Howard Shore has composed the music and the lyrics have been written by David Henry Hwang.” Happy Valentines Day.

If anybody wants to see the last scene I put it up here in all its glory. MAJOR SPOLIERS OBVIOUSLY
