Friday the 13th 3 and 4

Published by carl8447 at 1:59 am under Uncategorized Edit This

As I write these blogs, I have been putting the trailers for the films on the site and I get extremely nostalgic when I see the old Paramount mountain logo and hear the infamous “Ka Ka Ka” sound effect and I get weepy eyed when I hear the infamous, notorious King of voiceovers Don LaFontaine. Don LaFontaine’s career started in the early sixties doing radio spots and he bled over into doing voiceovers for movie trailers. In his career he produced almost 5000 movie trailers and half a million TV spots and radio spots, he is considered the voice of God. Unfortunately he passed away in September of 2008 and Hollywood will never be the same. His voice was basically the driving force of every movie trailer you can think of. From TERMINATOR 2 to BATMAN to yes, FRIDAY THE 13TH. Don Lafontaine was a legend and he will be severely missed.

FRIDAY THE 13th, part three

This is probably my favorite film in the series. Steve Miner hits a homerun with this action packed mayhem. Originally shot for a 3D audience in a flux of a 3D revival (other films that came out that year for 3D were AMITYVILLE 3D and JAWS 3D) this film has more pops and more jumps then probably any other in the series. The plot leaves off immediately after the second one ended, we find Jason without his pillow case and angry for revenge. Again a couple of kids invade a farmhouse, which is “near” his old campground, and Jason is in the need for revenge. This film has the most thought out kills and stunts to keep anybody entertained for eighty minutes and of course this film is historic in the franchise because this is wear Jason gets his hockey mask for the first time. He doesn’t get it until fifty minutes into the film but the way he gets it definitely fits Jason style. I recommend this film out of all of them, even over the original two, because I feel this one is the most fun.

FRIDAY THE 13th, part four

This film has probably the most ironic title in the history of movie making. It is officially called FRIDAY THE 13TH: THE FINAL CHAPTER, indicating that this was going to be the last film in the series, as we know now six consequent sequels followed in stead. The film also takes place after the third one lets off. Jason escapes the morgue and heads back to Camp Crystal Lake (he’s better than a Global Positioning System, he always finds his way home. Chaos happens for an hour and half, with a lot of nudity, blood and decapitations this is one film that has everything for every adolescent male. With a cast of incredibly famous people (relatively unknowns at the time), with Peter Barton (HELL NIGHT, YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS), Crispin Glover, and a young Corey Feldman. This is good film to end a four-movie marathon, it ends on a great note and in fact this film should have just ended the series. But again everybody wanted more . . .
