The Godfather
THE GODFATHER
THE GODFATHER is Francis Ford Coppola’s mob film, which took away all the conventional gangster perceptions (Black hats, and funny accents) into a traditional family setting. That was a new concept where we saw how the bad guys lived and breathe. Marlon Brando plays Don Corleone the head of his mob family, and has three sons and a daughter that follow his lineage, Sonny (James Caan), who is his father’s right hand man, Michael (Al Pacino) who is trying hard to live a normal life, Fredo (Jon Cazviel) who is the son who is the most neglected. This epic story punches through all sorts of contradictions that the mob is of an evil brand, where in this film you actually like and sympathize with most of the characters. Yes the film does have a violent streak, but it goes to show the audience that there is always a consequence to a negative action. This is the ultimate mob movie and must be watched at least twice to get it’s full potential.
